First up was Derren Red explaining how he Predicted the lottery and this was followed by David Blaine performing Since they will be Magic. The next day ones conversational topic was created:

Both DB-UK & DB-USA started as close-up magicians and in actual fact both got their dangerous break by demonstrating matter magic. Derren performed Smoke and David performing numerous card tricks including; Pronounced Card and 2 Cards Monte respectfully. Ironically neither is considered 'a magician' any more David Blaine is much more of an endurance artist and Derren are often a Psychological Illusionist.

Just like Michael Jackson haven't so much invent the Moonwalk; David Blaine did not invent the idea for this trick or go with the method, but it appears to have been widely known by the population as, David Blaine's 'Card Toward Window'. Derren Brown trying more tricks on TELEVISION than David, has had more Variety broadcast and has had about the same 1 off TV advertisements. He also performs a stage show annually inside the uk. For some strange root, people talk about just how Amazing Derren was but they don't get a specific memorable trick. So although Derren wins the dispute for quantity David Bliane gets more talk-time after his shows.

Entertainment Value Seeing that David Blaine started doing some endurance tests his film value was significantly remove. He seemed to master residing in the one place for a long time without doing anything. Derren performs a side of magic referred to in the industry as Mentalism. Mentalism is often needs to be boring but Derren incorporates humour to damage up the act.

Technical Ability
This shouldn't have any bearing on the overall decision but as an alternative to unfair not to clarify it. The magic fraternity looks like it's upon ones skill with a pack of cards as the Jedi Knights in combat look upon ones skill together with the light sabre. So although both are strong in the force Derren is awarded a very good degree of respect within the magic world
David Blaine performs with methods which don't rely on complex digital dexterity and frequently many magicians can replicating his tricks. However, Derren Brown performs several tricks that draw from complex card manipulation that tend to magicians cannot replicate safely.
